PRF

PRF is drawn from your own blood, spun, and injected back. Nothing synthetic goes in.

The difference between PRF and PRP comes down to one decision at preparation. I do not add an anticoagulant to PRF. Because nothing prevents the blood from clotting naturally, the platelets stay held in a fibrin matrix, and they release their growth factors slowly over time rather than all at once.

That slower release is the reason I use it. Where I want a sustained effect from your own biology rather than a single burst, PRF is the version I reach for.

I use PRF under the eyes, in the nasolabial folds, and for skin quality. For hair I use PRP instead. PRP is faster to prepare and considerably easier to inject across a scalp, and for that application the practical advantages matter more than the slower release does.

PRF and PRP both use your own blood. Which one you get depends on what we are treating, and we decide that at your consultation.

How I use it

Under the eyes

The under-eye is where PRF earns its place. It is your own tissue, with no product to migrate or hold water, in an area where both of those matter.

This is a different conversation from under-eye filler. Filler addresses hollowing and structure. PRF addresses the quality of the skin itself over the area. Some people are candidates for one, some for both, and some for neither.

Best for: Under-eye skin quality using your own biology

Preparation: No anticoagulant, natural fibrin matrix

Nasolabial folds

I use PRF here for tissue quality rather than volume. It does not replace filler where a fold needs structural support, and I will say so if that is what I am seeing.

Best for: Tissue quality in and around the nasolabial fold

Skin quality

This is the broadest use. PRF delivers your own growth factors into the skin, with the slow release the fibrin matrix allows.

Best for: Overall skin quality and texture

PRF or PRP

The honest version: they are the same starting material, prepared two ways, and each one is better at a different job.

PRF, with no anticoagulant, gives a slower and longer release. That suits the face.

PRP is quicker to prepare and much easier to inject across a large area like the scalp. That suits hair restoration, and it is what I use there.

Neither is the premium version of the other.

PRF: Under-eyes, nasolabial folds, skin

PRP: Hair restoration
